YoruNeko is a practice and performance app for musicians — a metronome, a tuner, chord and scale references, ear training, song charts and setlists, and a way to play alongside other people. This page explains exactly what the app collects, why it needs it, who else sees it, and how to get it back or have it deleted.

The short version. We collect what an account and a shared songbook actually require: your email, your display name, the charts and comments you write, and coarse usage and crash data so the app can be fixed. The microphone is never recorded or uploaded — the tuner and key finder analyse sound on your device and keep nothing. We do not ask for GPS, we do not read your contacts, and we do not sell anything to anyone.

What we collect

Your account

Your email address and a display name, plus a password that is stored only as a hash — never as text we could read. If you sign in with Google we store the account identifier Google gives us so we can recognise you next time; we do not receive your Google password, and Google's profile name is used only if the account is created that way.

What you make in the app

Song charts you write or submit, edits and votes on other people's charts, comments and part notes, setlists, band and friend relationships, song requests, reports you file, and any feedback you send. Anything you publish to the community is visible to other people using the app — that is the point of it.

Roughly where you are

So the app can say "this drummer is in your area", we work out a country and a state or region from the IP address your requests arrive with. The app never asks your device for its location, there is no GPS permission, and we do not store a city, an address, or the IP itself as part of your profile. The lookup uses a table shipped inside our own server, so your address is not sent to any location service to do it.

How the app is used, and how it breaks

Which screens and features get opened, how long sessions last, and searches that found nothing — so we know what to build next. When something crashes we collect the error and the steps leading to it, along with your app version, operating system version and device model. That last one is deliberately the class of hardware ("Pixel 8"), never the device's name, which is usually somebody's actual name.

Notifications and membership

If you turn on notifications we store the push token your device is issued, so we can send them. If you buy YoruNeko Pro we store that you have it and when it runs out. Card details are handled by the app store you bought it through and never reach us.

What we do not collect

Why we are allowed to hold it

WhatWhy
Email, display name, password hashTo give you an account and let you back into it. Without this there is no app.
Charts, comments, votes, bandsTo provide the shared songbook and social features you asked for.
Country and regionOur legitimate interest in making bandmate matching useful.
Usage and crash dataOur legitimate interest in keeping the app working and knowing what to improve.
Push tokenYour consent — you choose whether to enable notifications, and can turn them off at any time.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising. It reaches these companies only because they run parts of the service:

We will also hand over data where the law actually requires it, and we would tell you unless we were forbidden from doing so.

How long we keep it

Your account and what you created stay until you delete them. Password reset codes expire after fifteen minutes. Crash reports and usage records are kept for up to two years and then removed. Charts you contributed to the shared catalogue may remain after your account is gone, with your name detached from them, because other people's setlists depend on them.

Getting your data, or deleting it

You can ask us for any of the following, free, and we will answer within 30 days:

To request deletion, email support@yoruneko.band from the address your account uses, with the subject "Delete my account". We delete the account, your email, display name, profile, friendships, band memberships, comments and crash records. Charts already published to the shared catalogue are kept but unlinked from you, as described above.

Depending on where you live you may also have the right to object to processing, to ask us to restrict it, or to complain to your local data protection authority.

Security

Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as hashes. Reset codes are hashed as well, expire quickly, and stop accepting guesses after five wrong ones. No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise — but we do not keep anything we do not need, which is the part that matters most.

Children

YoruNeko is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will remove it.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top, and we will tell you in the app before anything that materially affects you takes effect.
